Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte returns, along with other fall drinks

And Dunkin Donuts is getting in on the annual trend too.

Yes, the end of summer is near and Starbucks knows it.

The Seattle-based company has revealed its fall menu, which will be available starting today. Many consider this the unofficial start of the season.

This year, it won’t be just about the Pumpkin Spice Latte. The brand is adding a new Iced Apple Crisp Nondairy Cream Chai to its fall lineup, it said in a news release.

The Pumpkin Spice Latte, popular since its debut in 2003, is made with real pumpkin, the brand’s espresso, steamed milk and a spice combo of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. It is topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices. The drink can be made hot, iced or blended.

A related drink is the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, made with cold brew sweetened with vanilla syrup and topped with pumpkin cream cold foam and a pumpkin spice topping.

Pumpkin Cream Iced Chai is another option. It combines spicy chai notes with cold pumpkin cream foam and a pumpkin spice topping.

The new drink on the menu is the Apple Crisp Nondairy Cream Chai, which features the warm, spicy flavors of chai combined with creamy oat milk and topped with cold nondairy apple crisp foam.

Also on the menu is the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, which features layers of apple, cinnamon and brown sugar combined with rich espresso poured over creamy oat milk and topped with a spiced apple drizzle.

The Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso features blond espresso with notes of apple, cinnamon and brown sugar, shaken and topped with oat milk.

Two fall drinks will only be available on the Starbucks app. One is the Iced Caramel Apple Cream Latte, made with espresso blended with milk and notes of apple, cinnamon and brown sugar, served over ice and topped with salted caramel cream cold foam. The other is the Iced Honey Apple Almond Milk Flat White, which features blond espresso and almond milk served over ice with a hint of honey and nondairy apple crisp cold foam.

Dunkin’ Donuts

The Boston-based donut chain has expanded heavily into the beverage market in recent years. In addition to pumpkin cake donuts and donut holes, along with a push into maple sugar bacon-themed eats, Dunkin’ has pumpkin spice drink offerings of its own.

This year, Dunkin’s pumpkin spice beverage menu includes the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, Nutty Pumpkin Coffee and the add-on of a Pumpkin Swirl for hot or iced coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew or frozen coffee.
