Television personalities Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame plan to add dinner to the menu at Magnolia Table in Waco.
The restaurant, which opened about five years ago in the city’s former Elite Cafe space, previously solely served breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Its new dinner menu, themed for autumn, incorporates recipes from Joanna’s (or Jo’s) cookbooks, Magnolia Table, Volume 1, 2 and 3. Aside from French fries, the menu appears to be unique.
Appetizers, salads and soups range from honey butter layered biscuit bites to sausage-stuffed mushrooms, from butternut squash soup to arugula and pickled dried cherry salad with almonds, gorgonzola cheese and a house-made vinaigrette. The starter category ranges from $5 for a cup of soup and $8 for the biscuit bites to $14 for more involved items.
Main entrees, such a bavette steak frites for $35 or orange-glazed salmon for $26, can be paired with “shareables” that include brown butter mashed potatoes that incorporate gruyere cheese and crispy balsamic glazed brussels sprouts melted in candied pecan butter.
Pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust and apple crisp with a scoop of ice cream and spiced brown sugar whipped cream are among the seasonal desserts.
Drink options include fall-themed and classic cocktails, wine and beer.
The dinner service will premiere on Sept. 20, 2024.
The Gaines’ Silos, an attraction said to be more popular with tourists than the Alamo and a shopping destination, is situated about eight minutes from Magnolia by car.
In recent years, additions to the Magnolia portfolio include the Hotel 1928 property and the launch of the Magnolia Network, featuring a variety of programs that can be viewed on Max, Discovery+ and cable and satellite packages.
