Reservations are now up for grabs at Sanjh, a new upscale Las Colinas restaurant centered on regional Indian cuisine. It opens Jan. 18, 2024, in a pocket of restaurants and bars along Lake Carolyn.
Sanjh, which means “evenings” in Hindi, is the first restaurant from new Dallas-Fort Worth hospitality company Tivona Group, and it’s designed to honor the sacred time when people come together at the end of the day to share a meal. It’s also designed to be an exploration of culinary traditions from every region in India.
“We have strived to show every part of India on the menu wherever we could,” chef Balpreet Singh Chadha said in a written statement. “Our team of chefs has worked across the country; all bringing a little piece of each region with them to our restaurant.”
The drink list is just as regionally focused as the food. “If you were to put together all our cocktails, they would create a beautiful map of India,” said Yangdup Lama, the restaurant’s director of mixology. For example, the Madras Mail is made with curry leaf-infused rum and tamarind syrup to represent the culinary traditions of South India.
The aim at Sanjh is to give diners the feeling they’ve been “whisked away to a convivial dinner party in India,” Chadha said.
The restaurant will be open for dinner only to start, but eventually lunch and brunch will be added.
Sanjh is located at 5250 N. O’Connor Blvd. #146, Irving. It will open Jan. 18, 2024, and will operate from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. sanjhrestaurant.com.
