Former Allen state champion wrestler A.J. Ferrari has been charged with one felony count of sexual battery, and a warrant was issued for his arrest by Payne County District Court on Wednesday, according to a report by The Oklahoman
The arrest warrant affidavit was filed by the Stillwater Police Department’s criminal investigations division on Tuesday, according to The Oklahoman, and his bond was set at $25,000, as initially reported by the Stillwater News-Press.
Police responded to a report of an alleged assault back in July, in which an unnamed woman accused Ferrari of sexual assault.
Shortly after news of the alleged assault became public, Oklahoma State removed Ferrari, who won two UIL state championships and an NCAA title in the 197-pound division in 2021, from the wrestling team.
Ferrari, a rising junior, was injured in a car accident last January that ended his sophomore season. Ferrari, 20, one of the biggest stars in college wrestling, signed an NIL deal with the WWE’s “Next in Line” program in December.
