Greer spent his entire 15-year career in the Rangers organization, making it to the major leagues in 1994 and playing through the 2002 season. One of his most memorable moments came in 1994 as a rookie, when the center fielder made a diving catch in the ninth inning to save Kenny Rogers’ perfect game.
Greer was one of the Rangers’ most popular players, and in 2007 he was inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.
He has run a baseball school in the area, and he held the role of graduate manager at Jacksonville State. His son Mason Greer played baseball at Colleyville Heritage and went on to play in college at Auburn, McLennan Community College and Missouri State.
