She said it: “They [Lovejoy] ran a 1-2-2 zone. It was so wide and the middle was open so I could take it to the basket, pass the ball to an open teammate or get fouled. I was able to be the quarterback of the game. … In the offseason I worked on my shooting a lot. I can be a big guard. In practice we have drills where we get a lot of contact, but the focus is making the layup first before getting fouled.”

Coach said it: “Ciara was very aggressive to the basket against Lovejoy and she imposed her will. She played hard, but she made it look effortless. … In the past year she has really improved her versatility. Last year she was more of a back-to-the-basket post, but she plays everywhere when it comes to defense or shooting the ball.” – McKinney North coach Veronica Hamilton.

Did you know? Basketball became the primary sport over soccer for Harris when she was six years old. A lifelong North Texas resident, Harris said she felt like she could play basketball at the collegiate level when she was a freshman during a 60-53 win over Wylie East on Jan. 17, 2020, a pivotal game in which she had a couple key rebounds. …. Harris’ favorite course in school is forensic science. She said she would like to have knowledge of crime investigation for a future career as a lawyer with hopes of being a district attorney. … Harris’ favorite meal is a burrito (steak, white rice, cheese, sour cream) with tortilla chips and a Dr Pepper. … Harris’ favorite athlete is her older sister Chanterria Jackson because she wants to be like her, especially as a rebounder when it comes to basketball. Jackson played college basketball at Long Beach State and Eastern New Mexico. She is currently a math teacher at an area private school.
