Basketball replay (1/23): DeSoto races past Skyline; Carroll’s Jordan sisters shine again

Plus, a 32-point double-double for Richardson Pearce’s Kosi Ogba and a 94-point night for the Melissa girls.

Game of the night

DeSoto ended Skyline’s hopes of a season sweep.

Skyline beat DeSoto by four points in December but the 2023 state semifinalist made sure that didn’t happen again on Tuesday night.

SOUTHLAKE — Southlake Carroll’s four Jordan sisters — Milania, Gianna, Natalia and Nadia — had been averaging a combined 49 points per game. That was 83% of the scoring for the state’s 19th-ranked Class 6A girls team.

That percentage will go up ever so slightly after the sisters combined to score 38 points — 84.4% of Carroll’s points — in Tuesday’s 45-34 win over Keller. Milania Jordan, a junior who is the oldest of the four, led Carroll (24-5, 8-0 District 4-6A) with 17 points.

Carroll routed Keller 75-27 in their first district matchup on Dec. 19, but Tuesday was a much different game, as Keller closed to within 33-26 on a jumper by Rebekah Graves with 6:46 left in the fourth quarter. That’s when Milania Jordan took over, scoring six of the next nine points for Carroll to stretch the lead to 42-29.

The Jordan sisters combined for all 17 of Carroll’s first-quarter points and then had 19 of the team’s 21 points in the second half. Rebekah Graves led Keller with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.
