Former Frisco Liberty girls basketball star Jacy Abii, the state’s No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2026, announced on X on Friday that she has suffered an ACL injury.
She posted a video of herself in the hospital and said that it was the 16th day after her injury and her first day out of surgery.
On Saturday night, she confirmed in a direct message on X that she tore her ACL. She said there is a chance that she could play at some point this season.

The 6-2 Abii, a five-star junior point forward, was The Dallas Morning News All-Area Player of the Year last season and averaged 20.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.1 blocks as Liberty won its second straight Class 5A state title. Abii said in March that she was transferring to Legion Prep, a nontraditional, North Texas-based private school that has no physical location, offers only online classes and has added several elite recruits as transfers from Dallas-area public schools.
Abii, ranked by ESPN’s HoopGurlz as the No. 3 player in the nation in her recruiting class, received her first college offer as an eighth-grader and has more than 40 offers. Abii had 30 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in Liberty’s 60-51 win over nationally ranked Mansfield Timberview in last season’s state championship game.
This summer, Abii played for the U.S. under-17 national team that won the FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in León, Mexico. That was after she won a gold medal with the U.S. under-16 national team at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
