W.T. White reached the regional semifinals in girls basketball for the first time last season. Even bigger things could be in store now that the school has added an elite recruit.
W.T. White newcomer Miracle Akpotayobo announced on X that she has committed to Auburn. Last season, Auburn (20-12) made its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2019, losing to Arizona in the First Four.

At a time when many of the best players in the Dallas area have left UIL public schools to transfer to charter school Oak Cliff Faith Family or online school Legion Prep Academy, Akpotayobo appears to have taken a circuitous route to W.T. White for her senior year.
In October 2022, a post on X indicated that the 6-2 forward from Nigeria was at Life Prep Academy in Kansas. Last season she was listed on DeSoto’s roster that is on MaxPreps, but in January, Central Pointe Christian Academy in Florida welcomed her to its school in a post on X.
Akpotayobo did not respond to a message on X seeking comment.
W.T. White was led last season by Dany Diaz, who was the District 11-5A MVP and an all-state selection as a sophomore. She was one of the top scorers in the area, averaging 23.6 points.
