See changes to this week’s Dallas-area football schedule, with COVID-19 affecting several games

Princeton vs. Frisco Memorial district game is latest cancellation.

There have been several changes to this week’s Dallas-area football schedule.

That is after 63 area games the last three weeks were canceled or postponed, most for COVID-19 reasons.

Greenville has canceled Saturday’s district game against Royse City for COVID-19 reasons, Royse City coach David Petroff said. Royse City is looking for a game.

Thursday’s Princeton vs. Frisco Memorial game in District 7-5A Division II was canceled because of COVID-19 issues at Princeton. The game won’t be made up. Frisco ISD said it hasn’t been determined if the game will be ruled a forfeit or no contest for the district standings.

Greenville has canceled Saturday’s District 8-5A Division II game against Royse City for COVID-19 reasons, Royse City coach David Petroff said Thursday. Royse City is looking for a game.

The district announced Wednesday that it is switching to a zoned schedule.

Crandall won’t be able to play this week’s District 8-5A Division II game against North Forney because of COVID-19 issues at Crandall, coach Kyle Hardin said Monday. Greenville (vs. Ennis) and Sulphur Springs (vs. Crandall) couldn’t play games in that district last week for COVID-19 reasons, and Sulphur Springs couldn’t play this week’s game against Ennis.

Life Oak Cliff coach Kevin Grubbs said that his school and Grandview mutually agreed to cancel Friday’s District 7-3A Division I game for COVID-19 reasons. Grubbs said the game will be ruled a no contest and, as of right now, won’t be made up.

Carrollton Prince of Peace canceled Friday’s football game vs. TCA-Addison because of injuries and the subsequent roster size it was left with, TCA-Addison boys athletic director Don English said Thursday. TCA-Addison will now host Bullard Brook Hill at 7 p.m. Friday.

Brook Hill was supposed to play Bishop Dunne this week. Bishop Dunne canceled that game because of injuries, boys athletic coordinator Rodney Butler said Thursday. Bishop Dunne will resume its season Nov. 6 against McKinney Christian.

Two games involving state-ranked UIL teams have been affected this week.

Prosper (2-0), ranked No. 19 in the state in Class 6A by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, had its District 5-6A opener at Little Elm moved from Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday. Prosper hasn’t played since Oct. 1 and had to cancel its games the last two weeks because of COVID-19 cases in the football program that required a number of players to quarantine.

Mansfield Timberview (3-0, 1-0), ranked No. 7 in the state in 5A Division II, had its District 5-5A Division II game at Burleson moved from Thursday to 7 p.m. Friday at Burleson ISD Stadium.

Here are all of the scheduled changes so far:

Postponed games

  • Fort Worth Arlington Heights at Justin Northwest
    • This game in District 3-5A Division I was postponed until the end of the season because of COVID-19 issues at Arlington Heights, Northwest coach Bill Poe said. A makeup date has not been determined.

Games that changed days

  • Prosper at Little Elm was moved from Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday.
  • Mansfield Timberview at Burleson was moved from Thursday to 7 p.m. Friday at Burleson ISD Stadium.
  • Royse City at Greenville was moved from Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday.
  • First Baptist at Shelton was moved from Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • Whitney vs. A+ Academy was moved from Thursday to 7:30 Friday and will be played at First Baptist.

Games added to the schedule

  • Mansfield Summit at Ennis, 7 p.m. Thursday
    • This game was added because Ennis is no longer playing a district game vs. Sulphur Springs.
  • Fort Worth All Saints at Parish Episcopal, 7 p.m. Friday
