Frisco Liberty’s Evan Stewart — The Dallas Morning News’ No. 1 WR in Class of 2022 — commits to Texas

247Sports ranks Stewart as the fifth-best receiver in the nation.

Texas continued to build one of the nation’s top recruiting classes for 2022 late Thursday night, landing a commitment from Frisco Liberty four-star wide receiver Evan Stewart.

Stewart (6-0, 175) is rated the No. 1 receiver and fifth-best overall recruit in SportsDay’s Area Top 50, and 247Sports ranks him as the fifth-best receiver in the nation. Stewart had 46 catches for 913 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior this season.

It is still early in the recruiting game for the Class of 2022, but UT’s six-player class is rated fifth-best in the nation by 247Sports. Stewart is the third member of the Area Top 50 to commit to Texas, joining Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield (No. 10) and Arlington Martin linebacker Trevell Johnson (No. 17).

Stewart lists 35 college offers on his recruiting page, including 2019 national champion LSU and 2020 national champion Alabama.

UT is getting a multi-sport star with Stewart, who was the Class 5A state runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 9.5 inches and finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 23-0 at the state track meet as a freshman in 2019. Stewart ranked third in the nation in the long jump (24-6) and 17th in the triple jump (47-9) last season, according to DyeStat.com.
