Week 8 highlights: The Colony standout runs for 343 yards, 6 TDs; O.D. Wyatt QB accounts for 10 TDs

Arlington Seguin and Richland win with late heroics; Colleyville Heritage, Corsicana win thrillers.

PLAYERS OF THE DAY

— Kamden Wesley ran for 343 yards and six touchdowns to lead The Colony to a 50-36 win over Frisco Heritage. The Colony overcame 410 passing yards by Heritage’s Easton Swetnam.

— Jaylen Jenkins ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns as No. 11 Allen beat No. 4 and previously unbeaten Denton Guyer 38-31 in a matchup of state-ranked 6A teams. For more on the game, go here.

— Lovejoy’s Alexander Franklin threw for 327 yards and six TDs in a 55-7 win over Lake Dallas. That gives Franklin 33 touchdown passes on the season for 7-0 Lovejoy.

— Jacob Wilson threw for 405 yards and five touchdowns to lead Trophy Club Byron Nelson to a 45-42 victory over Keller Fossil Ridge. Wilson entered the week leading area 6A players in passing yards with 2,157.

WILD GAMES

— Carrollton Creekview’s Garrett Palacio threw seven touchdown passes, and Isaiah Evans ran for 301 yards and three TDs, but Creekview lost 79-73 to Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt. Wyatt’s Kaid Barrett accounted for 10 touchdowns (eight passing) and had 426 yards passing. Wyatt trailed 73-72 with five seconds left in the game when Barrett threw a game-winning 5-yard touchdown pass to D’Artagnan Crawford.

— McKinney Boyd was outgained 593-222 by Little Elm but still won 48-44. Caden Park returned a kickoff for a score, Boyd scored on a fumble return by Carter Whitefield, and Tyson Bolden returned a punt for a touchdown.

GAME OF THE DAY

No. 5 Colleyville Heritage stopped a two-conversion try with 1:44 remaining and held on to beat No. 8 Mansfield Summit 35-34 in a matchup of area-ranked Class 5A teams. Kaiden Richards made a game-winning tackle of Summit quarterback David Hopkins on a two-point conversion try. Luke Ullrich’s 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter proved to be the winning score for Colleyville Heritage. Heritage (6-1, 4-0) now has sole possession of first place in District 4-5A Division I. For more on the game, go here.

LATE HEROICS

— Naszae Otieno scored on a 21-yard touchdown run with just over a minute left to give Arlington Seguin a 14-9 victory over Joshua. The winning score was set up by a 40-yard pass from Emaceo Davis to Naszir Otieno.

— C.J. Nelson threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Mark Zamora with 24 seconds remaining to lift Richland to a 36-29 victory over Birdville. Richland got a 42-yard field goal by Russell Skipper with 1:08 left, then recovered a fumble.

OVERTIME THRILLER

Tailback KJ Armstrong scored on a 13-yard run in overtime to give Corsicana a come-from-behind 42-38 victory over Sulphur Springs. Corsicana forced overtime on an 80-yard touchdown pass from freshman Jamarion Lewis to Conner Means with 1:03 left in regulation. Lewis was playing in place of Adrian Baston, who was out with a broken collarbone.
