Week 4 highlights and top performers: Rock Hill wins thriller; DeSoto QB throws for 6 TDs

Five area players rush for more than 200 yards, led by Carter’s Kaeden Landry.

Game of the day

Kevin Sperry threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Orlandi with 10 seconds left to rally Prosper Rock Hill to a dramatic 50-49 win over Denton Braswell. Braswell quarterback Keegan Byrd accounted for six touchdowns, but his team couldn’t hold a 49-38 fourth-quarter lead.

Sperry threw for 278 yards with three touchdowns and rushed for 154 yards and three more scores. A 5-yard run by Sperry with 7:14 left made it 49-44. Rock Hill’s game-winning drive started on its 8-yard line with 2:08 remaining.

Players of the day

— Keonde Henry returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, had four catches for 107 yards and three touchdowns and also scored on a 20-yard run as Lake Dallas improved to 4-0 with a 57-27 win over Grand Prairie.

— DJ Bailey threw for 358 yards and six touchdowns on 28 of 38 passing as DeSoto beat Skyline 63-0 in its 11-6A opener.

— Kaeden Landry ran for 219 yards and three touchdowns to lead Carter to a 46-20 win over Lincoln.

Down goes No. 1

Louisiana Tech pledge Evan Bullock threw three touchdown passes, including a go-ahead 95-yarder to Jacob Emmers in the third quarter, as No. 2 Anna rallied from a 17-6 halftime deficit and beat No. 1 Celina 28-25 in a matchup of the area’s top two Class 4A teams. Bullock’s 27-yard TD pass to Sean Steens with 11:07 left gave Anna a 28-17 lead. To read more on the game, go here.

Late heroics

— Noah McGough kicked a 25-yard field goal with 3:10 left to give No. 14 Jesuit a 32-31 win over No. 20 Lake Highlands in a matchup of area-ranked 6A teams. Lake Highlands outgained Jesuit 464-344.

— Brenden George threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Courtlin Scott with 2:16 left as Sachse beat Rowlett 48-41. Scott had seven catches for 176 yards and three touchdowns.

— Quarterback Maguire Martin scored the winning touchdown on a 4-yard run with 54 seconds left to give Plano Prestonwood Christian a 24-21 win over Fort Worth All Saints. In a matchup of area-ranked teams, All Saints rallied from a 17-0 deficit by scoring 21 straight points. AJ Sibley ran for 161 yards and a touchdown for Prestonwood.

Down to the wire

Texas Tech pledge Kaleb Smith returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown with 1:30 left to give Frisco Reedy a 41-37 win over Frisco Wakeland. Wakeland had taken a 37-34 lead with 4:49 left on a 13-yard TD pass from Brennan Myer to Ashdyn Kahouch. To read more on the game, go here.

Drelon Burton scored on a 4-yard run with 1:08 remaining to rally Arlington to a 32-28 win over previously undefeated Mesquite Horn. Arlington rallied from a 28-19 deficit in the fourth quarter and got six catches for 134 yards and a touchdown from Isaiah Robertson.
