DeSoto wide receiver Cedric Harden Jr. commits to Abilene Christian

Harden caught 43 passes for 612 yards and 7 touchdowns for the 6A Div. II state champions.

DeSoto wide receiver Cedric Harden Jr. announced his commitment to Abilene Christian on Tuesday.

Harden, the No. 92 overall player on The Dallas Morning News’ top 100 recruits list for the class of 2023, had committed to Central Arkansas in September but backed off of his pledge to stay in state.

A 6-2, 185 pound athlete, Harden proved to be a key piece of DeSoto’s 6A Div. II state championship run last fall. He caught 43 passes for 612 yards and 7 touchdowns for DeSoto (14-2), and caught three touchdowns in the playoffs, including one against Denton Guyer in the state semifinals.

Harden transferred to DeSoto from District 11-6A rival Cedar Hill before his senior season. He started at quarterback for Cedar Hill as a junior and totaled 18 touchdowns. He’ll join an Abilene Christian team that finished 7-4 last season and second in the Western Athletic Conference.
