Parish Episcopal enters 2023 with a good chance to win its fifth consecutive TAPPS Division I state title, led by third-year quarterback Sawyer Anderson. Similar to 2022, Prestonwood likely has the best chance to dethrone the reigning champions. After losing to Parish Episcopal in the state title game, Prestonwood will be led this season by Tulane commit and Little Elm transfer quarterback Kellen Tasby.

TAPPS 1-II

Argyle Liberty Christian, 10-2

Fort Worth All Saints, 7-6

Fort Worth Christian, 8-4

Midland Christian, 5-5

Fort Worth Southwest Christian, 4-6

The top half of this district looks to be competitive again in 2023. Argyle Liberty Christian finished the regular season in first place last season, but fell to Fort Worth All Saints in the second round of the playoffs. Both schools enter the season with big names at quarterback. Argyle Liberty Christian will be led by UConn commit and Flower Mound Marcus transfer Cole Welliver and Fort Worth All Saints will be led by Virginia Tech commit and Keller Central transfer Kelden Ryan.

TAPPS 2-II

Tyler Grace Community, 8-1

Bishop Dunne, 7-4

Grapevine Faith, 6-5

Frisco Legacy Christian, 2-8

Flower Mound Coram Deo, 3-7

One of the closest districts in all of TAPPS last year, expect the same in 2022. Bishop Dunne may take a small step back after losing much of its production to graduation, but will likely still be in the mix near the top. Tyler Grace Community may still be the favorite, but Grapevine Faith could be in that mix as well.

TAPPS 1-III

Lubbock Trinity Christian, 10-3

Fort Worth Lake Country Christian, 9-2

Arlington Grace Prep, 6-6

Colleyville Covenant Christian, 3-8

Arlington Pantego Christian, 4-6

Trinity Christian- Willow Park, 1-9

Lubbock Trinity Christian may be the favorite again in 2023 under new head coach Riley White. The district looks to be competitive, with balance throughout the rest of the teams.

TAPPS 2-III

Dallas Christian, 13-1

Covenant School, 8-3

Bullard Brook Hill, 6-7

McKinney Christian, 1-9

Dallas Christian ran away with the district last year and is in position to do the same this season. Will Nettles is the player to watch here as one of the Dallas area’s best defensive backs.

SPC 4A

Bellaire Episcopal, 7-3

Houston St. John’s, 7-3

Episcopal School of Dallas, 7-2

Houston Kinkaid, 7-4

St. Mark’s, 4-6

Another balanced district, any of the top four have a good chance to win the district. Houston Kinkaid won the district last season, but will have strong competition to repeat.

SPC 3A

The Woodlands John Cooper, 9-2

Fort Worth Trinity Valley, 6-4

Cistercian, 8-2

Houston Christian, 3-6

Fort Worth Country Day, 3-5

Arlington Oakridge, 3-6

Greenhill, 0-9

The Woodlands John Cooper have won SPC 3A the last two years in a row, and are the favorites to pull off the three-peat. Fort Worth Trinity Valley came the closest to dethroning John Cooper last season, but will face stiff competition from Cistercian, Houston Christian and Fort Worth Country Day.
