Aledo at Denton Guyer

Where: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Denton’s C.H. Collins Complex

This will be the third consecutive time since 2022 that 12-time UIL state champion Aledo and 6A area power Denton Guyer meet in pre-district play. Aledo edged Guyer 48-45 in 2023 and went on to win its second straight 5A Division I state title. Guyer won the contest 44-14 in 2022, handing Aledo its second straight loss of the season. Five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold, now the signal caller at Oklahoma, played a pivotal role in that 2022 victory and led the team to the Class 6A Division II state semifinal. Guyer had a bit of a down year in 2023, when it exited the playoffs in the first round. The program should be back to its dominant ways now that it has added four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry, an Oklahoma pledge ranked 18th in The Dallas Morning News’ top 100 recruits in the Class of 2025.
