Red Oak was expected to have a shot to make a deep playoff run with one of the best wide receiver corps in Texas.
It just lost a huge part of that group.
Four-star senior wide receiver Taz Williams Jr., committed to Baylor, announced on Twitter that he will miss the rest of the season with a meniscus injury. Williams, rated the fourth-best receiver in the Dallas area and the 58th-best overall recruit in Texas in the Class of 2025, said he will have surgery soon.

Williams was a second-team all-area selection last season after he had 80 receptions for 1,251 yards and 14 touchdowns for a 12-1 team that reached the Class 5A Division I Region I semifinals. He had 15 catches for 151 yards and two scores for a 1-2 team this season, and he was one of the most heavily recruited players in the country, listing 50 offers on his 247Sports recruiting page.
Red Oak still has four-star junior Brayden Robinson and three-star Michigan State pledge Charles Taplin at receiver. They combined for 13 catches for 149 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s 41-14 win over Cedar Hill.
Red Oak plays at Killeen Ellison on Friday, then starts district play on Oct. 4 by hosting six-time state champion Highland Park.
