Frisco Lone Star at Frisco Reedy
Where: 7 p.m. Thursday at Frisco’s Ford Center
Frisco Lone Star beat Frisco Reedy in dramatic fashion last season when quarterback Collin Blackstock’s 42-yard touchdown pass to Winston Pollard as time expired gave Lone Star a 35-32 win. Lone Star, which has won five of six all-time meetings in its series with Reedy, went on to win the District 6-5AI title. The teams moved to 5-5AI in UIL realignment.
Ranked fourth in The Dallas Morning News’ 5A poll, Lone Star meets No. 12 Reedy on Thursday in a game that will decide the district title. Reedy is undefeated in district play and Lone Star is one game behind after a 65-59 upset loss to Frisco Wakeland in Week 9. A win over Reedy would give Lone Star the head-to-head advantage. Reedy won the district title over Lone Star in 2022.
Taylor’s pick: Frisco Lone Star 42, Frisco Reedy 39
Spotlight on
Forney at Rockwall-Heath
Where: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rockwall’s Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium
Just one playoff spot remains in District 10-6A, and the winner of the game between Rockwall-Heath and Forney on Friday will take it. Tied for fourth place in District 10-6A, Forney and Heath both won games last week to keep their playoff hopes alive. Heath edged rival Rockwall 31-28 in Week 10 and Forney topped Tyler Legacy 40-14. Its first year in Class 6A, Forney advanced to the 5A Division I state semifinals last season. Heath went to the second round of the 6A Division I playoffs in 2023.
Taylor’s pick: Rockwall-Heath 37, Forney 33
Prosper Rock Hill at McKinney
Where: 7 p.m. Thursday at McKinney ISD Stadium
Prosper Rock Hill and McKinney are two of several teams still alive in the District 6-6A playoff race entering Week 11. The outcome of this game will have an impact on the postseason picture and not just for these two programs. McKinney edged Plano East, another team vying for a playoff spot, 24-23 last week and Rock Hill beat Plano 24-21. Plano is also still in the mix for the postseason.
Taylor’s pick: McKinney 25, Prosper Rock Hill 20
Arlington Martin at Arlington
Where: 7 p.m. Thursday at UT Arlington
For the first time in many years, perennial district champion Arlington Martin finds itself fighting for a playoff spot in Week 11. Before losing to Arlington Bowie in Week 7, Martin had not lost a district game since October 2018. Arlington will clinch a playoff spot if it beats Martin this week. This is a must-win game for Martin, which will need a couple of other games to go a certain way if it wants to see the postseason.
Taylor’s pick: Arlington 52, Arlington Martin 48
Plano East at Allen
Where: 7 p.m. Thursday at Allen
This is a significant game for Plano East, which could use a win over Allen to help its chances of securing one of the last two playoff spots in District 6-6A.
Allen, fresh off a 63-16 win over McKinney Boyd, already clinched the District 6-6A title and secured its first district championship since 2021. The powerhouse has also clinched a berth in the 6A Division I playoffs. If Allen defeats Plano East, it will post its first undefeated regular season since 2020, when it lost to Euless Trinity 49-45 in the third round of the playoffs.
Taylor’s pick: Allen 36, Plano East 17
Mansfield Summit at Arlington Seguin
Where: 7 p.m. Thursday at Arlington’s Wilemon Field
With three playoff spots in District 3-5AII secured, this will be either a playoff qualifier or elimination game for both Mansfield Summit and Arlington Seguin. Whichever team wins makes the postseason. The other will miss out. After being left out of the 2023 playoffs, Seguin started the season 5–0 and notched a marquee win over area-ranked Red Oak early this fall. Summit beat Seguin 41-13 in district play last year, finishing second in the District 5-5AII race and advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
Taylor’s pick: Mansfield Summit 27, Arlington Seguin 19
Terrell at Mesquite Poteet
Where: 7 p.m. Thursday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium
The last playoff spot in District 6-5AII is up for grabs and this game will be a deciding factor in which team takes it. All Terrell needs is a win over Poteet to make the postseason. Poteet needs a win to help its chances. Terrell lost 25-14 to Crandall last week and Poteet is coming off a 63-14 loss to Ennis. Poteet missed out on the playoffs last year, while Terrell qualified and was eliminated in the first round.
Taylor’s pick: Terrell 20, Mesquite Poteet 14
Weatherford at Mansfield
Where: 7 p.m. Friday at Mansfield’s Vernon Newsom Stadium
Two playoff spots remain in District 3-6A, and three teams are vying for them. Mansfield just needs a win over Weatherford to clinch a playoff spot after missing the postseason in 2023. The last two seasons, Mansfield competed in District 11-6A, the “District of Doom” with defending state champions DeSoto and Duncanville. The program moved over to District 3-6A after the UIL’s biennial realignment and started 6–0 this season.
Taylor’s pick: Mansfield 30, Weatherford 10
Flower Mound at Hebron
Where: 7 p.m. Friday at Hebron
Hebron, Flower Mound and Flower Mound Marcus are all competing for the last playoff spot in District 5-6A. This game between Flower Mound and Hebron will help decide which program will earn the No. 2 seed in the 6A Division II playoffs. Flower Mound, which started the season with three straight wins, is 2–4 in District 5-6A play after a 42-14 loss to Coppell last week. Hebron, 3-3 in District 5-6A play, beat Denton Braswell 38-0. Friday’s contest will be a must-win for both teams, which missed out on the playoffs last season.
Taylor’s pick: Hebron 34, Flower Mound 31
Irving MacArthur at Richardson
Where: 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson’s Eagle-Mustang Stadium
Irving MacArthur has been eliminated from playoff contention, but Richardson, 3–3 in District 7-6A, will clinch the district’s final playoff spot with a win. Richardson has not qualified for the playoffs the last three seasons and is looking to enter the postseason for the first time since 2020. Starting district play with three straight district wins over Richardson Berkner, Irving and Irving Nimitz, Richardson lost its last three games to Richardson Pearce, Jesuit and Lake Highlands.
Taylor’s pick: Richardson 24, Irving MacArthur 6

The six-time state champion ranked third in The News’ 5A poll meets No. 15 Midlothian in the District 7-5AI championship game. Both teams are 5–0 in district play and have secured playoff spots.
