GRAND PRAIRIE - Arlington built on last week’s upset win over Mesquite Horn to take the district opener against Grand Prairie 35-18 at the Gopher-Warrior Bowl Friday night.

After a sluggish first quarter, Arlington (3-2, 1-0 District 8-6A) was able to move the ball on the ground at will against Grand Prairie. Junior RB Drelon Burton led Arlington with 210 yards on 24 carries.

The Arlington defense held Grand Prairie (0-5, 0-1) to three field goal attempts in the first half.
Ahead 14-6 at halftime, Arlington dominated the second half.

Arlington QB Sam Semi, who threw for over 300 yards in last week’s upset, added two rushing touchdowns in addition to 101 yards passing.

Grand Prairie was led by senior RB Michael Carter who rushed for 124 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown.
