FRISCO – Ismael Taylor returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown with 9:15 remaining for the final touchdown of the game as Frisco pulled away from Frisco Centennial in a District 6-5AI game Thursday at The Ford Center at The Star.
Taylor's touchdown came on the ensuing play after Centennial cut Frisco's lead to 17-10 on a 37-yard touchdown pass from Naman Goyal to Trey Herbert. Taylor also made an interception in the end zone with 21 seconds remaining to ice the win for Frisco (3-1, 2-0 in 6-5A-I), ranked No. 14 in The Dallas Morning News' Class 5A area poll.
Brandon Miyazono put Frisco ahead 7-3 with a 24-yard touchdown run with 8:18 left in the second quarter. Miyazono – a SMU commit – had 105 yards rushing on six carries in the first half, including a 61-yard rumble to set a 29-yard field goal by Mason Stallons as time expired in the first half to give Frisco a 10-3 halftime lead. Miyazano finished with 114 yards rushing.
Frisco rushed for 224 yards as a team, including an eight-yard touchdown run by Kam Pendergraph with 4:29 left in the third quarter. Frisco had six sacks, two by sophomore linebacker Mason Mitchell.
Hebert finished with a game-high nine reception for 114 yards for Centennial (2-2, 1-1) and also had an interception with a 26-yard return. Tyler Raymond and Caden Whittle had two tackles for loss apiece, including a sack for Raymond.
