DENTON -- In its first year of varsity play, Frisco Emerson improved to 5-0 with a 47-13 win over Denton at the C.H. Collins Complex.
Darryl Shelton threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns for Emerson (1-0 in District 3-5A Division I), while Ishaqq Bills ran for 115 yards and a touchdown and Kylen Evans had four catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
Emerson opened their scoring with a 56-yard run from Bills. That was followed by an interception from Nate Leal that set up to a 7-yard touchdown run from Kameron Lockhart. Evans had a 76-yard touchdown reception to go up 21-0 over Denton (2-3, 0-1) in the first half.
Emerson tallied a total of 285 total yards in the first half and three touchdowns. Emerson held Denton to 46 total yards in the first half.
Denton;'s Coco Brown opened the second half with a 76-yard touchdown run. Emerson answered with a pair of touchdowns from Evans and Jayson Williams, with one also being a 76-yard touchdown reception.
Emerson tallied a total of 524 yards and 6 touchdowns as they routed Denton 47-13.
Emerson is set to face Creekview next Friday as they look to start the season 6-0.
