MIDLOTHIAN — Junior wide receiver Bryant Wesco had a pair of touchdown receptions while senior quarterback Chad Ragle threw for two scores as Midlothian defeated Arlington Seguin 30-14 Thursday night at Midlothian ISD Stadium.
Midlothian, coming off of a season when it went three rounds deep into the playoffs, scored 23 unanswered points in the second half to turn a narrow 7-6 halftime lead into a commanding 30-6 advantage midway through the fourth quarter.
Wesco, a 3-star recruit who already has offers from Oklahoma, TCU and Texas Tech, had a 40-yard TD reception from Drew Wendel for Midlothian's first score midway through the second quarter and then had a 30-yard score from Ragle in the third period that put Midlothian up 14-6. Wesco finished with three catches for 90 yards.
Following a field goal, Rage tossed a 41-yard scoring strike to De-ago Benson for his second TD pass that made it 24-6 as Midlothian scored on three consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter to pull away. Michael Garber added 84 yards on 10 carries for Midlothian, which finished with 334 yards of total offense.
Seguin (0-1) was led by quarterback Sirawn Evans, who was 17 for 25 for 165 yards and a touchdown while Naszae Otieno had 81 yards on the ground on 19 carries in a losing effort.
