IRVING — Richardson Berkner recovered the opening onside kick then used a balanced running attack to beat Irving 31-0 in a District 7-6A matchup at Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium Friday night.

After recovering its onside attempt, Berkner quarterback Demarcus Calhoun found Dameon Crowe over the middle for a 27-yard touchdown on fourth-and-9. Berkner (3-3, 3-1) scored its next three scores on the ground, including a 33-yard Jamary Williams run and short rushes by Kaden Alcorn and Dante Doyle, to open up a 28-0 lead at halftime.

Berkner finished with 346 rushing yards on 49 attempts, averaging over 7 yards per carry. Alcorn had 15 carries for 146 yards to lead Berkner, while Williams added 104 on 14 rushes. Calhoun was an efficient 10 of 12 passing for 113 yards and a score

Irving (1-4, 0-3) struggled on offense all game and finished with just 116 yards of offense.
