RICHARDSON - Lake Highlands quarterback Tripp Holley put up 174 total yards with five total touchdowns on Thursday night, helping Lake Highlands close in on a playoff spot with a 45-17 victory over Richardson Pearce in District 7-6A action at Eagle-Mustang Stadium.

Lake Highlands (7-2, 5-2) trailed 17-14 midway through the second quarter, but scored the game’s final 31 points over the final two-plus quarters to secure the win. Holley provided the go-ahead score on a 17-yard run with 4:27 left in second quarter and Lake Highland never trailed after that.

Lake Highlands tailback Deonte Dean rushed for a game-high 121 yards and a touchdown, with Isa Mondy and Obarinemi Osarollor each adding receiving touchdowns in the win.

Richardson Pearce (3-5, 3-3) led 10-7 after the opening quarter and had its last lead at 17-14 on a 5-yard run by Christian Baker midway through the second quarter.

Caden Varner also scored in the loss for Pearce, with Presley Harper throwing for 171 yards and a score while Clark Wilson paced the defense with two interceptions.
