MANSFIELD - Junior quarterback Zuric Humes threw four touchdown passes as Mansfield Timberview defeated Carrollton Newman Smith 56-8 Thursday night at Mansfield's Vernon Newson Stadium.

Humes had touchdown passes to four different receivers as Timberview (5-0, 3-0 District 5-5AI) racked up over 600 yards of total offense in scoring more than 50 points for the fourth straight game.

Splitting time under center with Cameron Bates, Humes threw scoring tosses to Tyler Madison (60 yards) and Titus Evans (36 yards) in the first half before hooking up with D.J. Hill (23 yards) and Jarvis Reed (45 yards) after intermission as he finished the night 8 of 11 passing for 198 yards.

Reed, Timberview's senior starting running back, had a rushing touchdown and a receiving score in the victory. He finished with 157 yards on the ground in just 11 carries, including an 82-yard scoring run in the second quarter. Reed, who went over the 2,000 yard mark for his career with his performance, has scored at least one touchdown in 15 straight games for Timberview, which is ranked No. 4 in SportsDay’s Class 5A Area rankings and No. 2 in the state in Class 5AI.

Demonte Green had five catches for 122 yards and scored the lone touchdown for Newman Smith (2-2, 0-2)
