KELLER — Anderson Lewis threw for 265 yards with two touchdowns and Lonnie Johnson scored four touchdowns as Keller Timber Creek (1-0) jumped out to 23-point first quarter and used several big scoring plays to down Arlington Lamar (0-1) at the Keller ISD Athletic Complex.
Robert Brown gave Lamar a spark when he scored on a 17-yard touchdown run with 1:57 to play in the third quarter. The play ended a nine-play, 72-yard scoring drive to cut Lamar's deficit to 38-17.
Chukwudozie Ezukanma answered for Timber Creek on the ensuing kickoff when he ran it back for an 89-yard touchdown to give Timber Creek a 28-point lead with 1:42 left in the third.
Timber Creek set the tone early when Johnson took a short pass from Anderson, cut back against the defense and found room down the sideline for a 75-yard touchdown pass to put Timber Creek up 16-0 midway through the first quarter. Anderson connected with Jahrid Hughes for a 52-yard touchdown pass to stretch Timber Creek's lead to 23-0 heading into the second.
Brown scored Lamar's first touchdown on a 46-yard touchdown with 2:13 remaining before halftime. Timber Creek led 30-10 at the break. Brown finished as the game's leading rusher with 137 yards on 21 carries.
