FRISCO -- Forney scored 27 unanswered points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, thanks largely to two rushing touchdowns from senior running back Jayden Brown and cruised to a 34-14 win against Frisco Memorial at Toyota Stadium on Thursday.

Brown finished with 121 yards rushing on 18 carries and two scores while Forney senior quarterback Brent Paine was 13-for-22 passing for 213 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. It was a nice rebound for Forney (1-1), which had a close loss, 58-55, to Crandall in Week One.

Frisco Memorial (0-2) led 7-0 when Brandon Tullis caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Jake Gierkey with 5:11 remaining in the first. However, Forney answered when Paine connected with Alijah Merkson on a 28-yard scoring strike with 8 seconds left in the opening quarter and would score the game’s next 21 points.

Forney’s run of 27 unanswered was broken late in the third quarter when Frisco Memorial senior wide receiver Ferron Cotton returned a kickoff 71 yards for Memorial’s only second-half points.

The Forney offense finished with 525 yards and six plays of 20 or more yards while the Forney defense held Frisco Memorial to just 103 yards in the second half.
