CORINTH – Eli Koch returned an interception for a touchdown in overtime to keep Lake Dallas undefeated in a wild 54-48 win over Frisco Memorial in District 3-5A Div. II play.

Koch’s interception came after his team forced Memorial into a long field-goal attempt to start overtime. Lake Dallas blocked the attempt, but the ball fell to a Memorial player, who attempted the pass Koch returned 49 yards for the game-winner.

Memorial outscored Lake Dallas 18-7 in the fourth quarter to push the game to overtime, including a 50-yard Ian Villarreal field goal as time expired. He kicked a 47-yarder with 24 seconds left in the second half to give Memorial a 30-27 halftime lead.

Lake Dallas (6-0, 2-0) went ahead 48-45 with 51 seconds left after Dylan Brauchle scored from eight yards out before Villarreal’s clutch kick. Brauchle finished the game with 14 carries and 150 yards. His first touch was a 67-yard run on the game’s first play from scrimmage.

Lake Dallas quarterback Cade Bortnem was 24 of 36 passing for 375 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 11 passes to Evan Weinberg, including two scores, for 189 yards.

Memorial’s (1-5, 0-2) Jake Gierkey threw for 144 yards and two scores, and True Booker had two touchdowns rushing.
