ROYSE CITY — Sam Mitchum ran for 119 yards and four touchdowns, including three in the first quarter, to lead Royse City over Grand Prairie 58-0 in the opening game of the season on Friday night.

Royse City (1-0) gained over 650 yards of total offense, with quarterback Kenneth Spring passing for 286 yards and two touchdowns. Spring hit Jonah Roberson for a 38-yard touchdown reception with 0:13 left in the 2nd quarter to extend Royse City's lead 28-0. Spring would later connect with Ja'Cori Williams for a 70 yard touchdown strike in the 3rd quarter.

The Royse City defense prevented the Grand Prairie from gaining any momentum, limiting them to only 151 yards of total offense and holding them scoreless. Royse City's Nate Williams and Carter Hadnot combined to earn a safety for the defense.

Grand Prairie (0-1) was led by Michael Carter, who rushed for 64 yards.
