FRISCO – Receiver Brett Eskildsen had a season-high 137 yards receiving on 11 catches, including a 36-yard touchdown catch from Naman Goyal with 7:03 remaining, to ice a 38-13 Frisco Centennial win in a District 6-5AI Thursday over Frisco Liberty at The Ford Center at The Star.
Centennial scored 31 straight points from its first drive in the first quarter to the fourth quarter. Goyal had a 50-yard touchdown run on a read option to extend Centennial's lead to 24-6 with 6:55 remaining in the second quarter.
Centennial (3-6, 2-5 in District 6-5A-I) snapped a five-game losing streak and won its fourth consecutive game over Liberty, improving to 9-4 in the series history. Liberty (0-8, 0-6) suffered its ninth consecutive loss.
Centennial went up for good at 7-6 on a 2-yard touchdown run by Caden Bittle with 6:31 left in the first quarter, set up by a 43-yard jet sweep by Eskildsen, who had 92 total yards in the first half. Centennial extended its lead to 17-6 on a two-yard touchdown pass from Jace Patton to tight end Kyle Schmid on a fourth-and-goal play with 17 seconds left in the first half. Liberty running back Ethan Ashmore had 82 yards and a touchdown rushing in the first half, including a 2-yard touchdown run to open scoring with 8:20 left in the first quarter, and finished with 92 yards rushing for the game.
Centennial forced three turnovers. David Adegbenro forced a fumble that Parker Brosam recovered with 1:13 left in the first quarter. Brosam also blocked a Liberty field-goal attempt.
Xavier Cottrell added a third-quarter fumble recovery for Centennial while Jose Castillo had an interception. Amarean Porter had an interception for Liberty.
