South Oak Cliff scored two defensive touchdowns in the first quarter, which propelled the team to a 48-0 District 6-5A Div. II win over Spruce Friday at Sprague Stadium.
Kerry Williams intercepted a Spruce pass and returned it 19 yards for the game’s first score. SOC marched 53 yards in then plays on its first offensive series and went ahead 14-0 when quarterback Carter Kopecky scored on a 6-yard run.
The SOC defense scored on the ensuing series when David Spruiells intercepted a Spruce pass and returned it 54 yards—making it 21-0 with 4:05 remaining in the first quarter.
Spruce (4-2, 0-2) was held to 25 yards and only one first down in the first half. SOC led 35-0.
SOC (3-3, 2-0) finished with 317 total yards.
