KELLER — Landen Chambers ran for 232 yards on 34 carries and scored four touchdowns as Keller Fossil Ridge picked up a 35-7 win over Keller Central to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Keller Fossil Ridge (5-4, 3-3 District 4-6A) jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Chambers ran in for a nine-yard touchdown on the game’s opening series and added another nine-yard scoring run with one minute left in the opening quarter.
Braden Manners gave Keller Central (1-8, 1-5) an offensive spark to start the second quarter. He took a pass over the middle from Kelden Ryan and turned it into an 80-yard reception to the Keller Fossil Ridge five-yard line. The play set up Chase Garnett’s seven-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 14-7.
Chambers answered for Keller Fossil Ridge with a ten-yard touchdown run. Logan Cundiff with three minutes remaining ran for a four-yard touchdown with three minutes left before halftime to put Fossil Ridge up 28-7 at the break. Chambers finished the scoring in the third with a one-yard touchdown to cap an 11-play scoring drive.
Keller Fossil Ridge’s defense held Keller Central to 137 yards of total offense. The loss meant Keller Central was eliminated from playoff contention.
