GARLAND — Quarterback Jayden Norwood ran for two touchdowns and threw one more to lead Garland to a 23-13 win over Birdville at Williams Stadium on Friday night.
Garland (1-1) took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and rode a strong defensive performance the rest of the way, holding Birdville (1-1) scoreless in the second and third quarters while intercepting three passes.
Running back Keyuntae King had a game high 129 rushing yards for Garland while Norwood added 66 yards on the ground. All 34 of Norwood’s passing yards came on a first quarter touchdown pass to Keylon Davis that opened the scoring.
Birdville quarterback Sekou Konate threw for 151 yards and two scores along with 66 rushing yards. Triston Johnson was Birdville’s top receiver with 122 receiving yards and one touchdown.
