PROSPER — Behind the running back tandem of senior Kyle Cummings and junior Ife Durodoye, who amassed a combined 170 rushing yards and one touchdown, Justin Northwest beat Prosper Rock Hill 44-14 in Week 1 Friday night at Children's Health Stadium at Prosper ISD.

Justin Northwest (1-0) received a needed lift early from Cummings. In the first half, Cummings rushed for 99 of his 118 yards alone, including a 23-yard scamper that placed Justin Northwest in field goal range near the end of the half. Cummings' aggressive run led to the eventual 37-yard field goal by Trayton Greer that put Justin Northwest up 23-7 before the intermission. And in the second half, he added a two-yard touchdown run, while Justin Northwest tacked on 21 more points en route to the victory.

Following Cummings' lead, Durodoye, Justin Northwest's backup running back, pitched in with 52 yards of his own on 12 attempts.

Justin Northwest's senior quarterback Jake Strong threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 23 yards which included a three-yard touchdown run.

For Prosper Rock Hill (0-1), junior running back Victor Chionuma ran for 71 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
