JUSTIN — Kyle Cummings ran for 229 yards and two touchdowns as Justin Northwest defeated The Colony 35-29 Friday night at Northwest ISD Stadium.

Northwest (5-2, 4-1 District 3-5A) led by 20 after a 22-yard Joseph Rivas touchdown catch with 11:13 remaining in the game. The Colony staged a comeback with a Kamden Wesley touchdown, a successful onside kick, and a Carson Cox touchdown, making the game 35-29 with 4:24 left. Northwest recovered the ensuing onside kick attempt and never gave the ball back to put an end to The Colony's comeback chances.

Rivas finished the night with 83 yards and a touchdown on four catches. Quarterback Jake Strong completed 11 of his 17 passes for 157 and three touchdowns. Logan Jeskevic caught two passes for 30 yards and a touchdown.

For The Colony (2-6, 2-4), Wesley ended with 141 rushing yards and a touchdown. Harold Gibson ran for 95 yards and a touchdown. Carson Cox completed nine of his 16 passes for 72 yards and ran for 29 yards and a touchdown. Senior kicker Edwin Lopez also had a big day with three made field goals of 42, 52, and 42 yards, respectively.
