In the opening night of 7-4A district play, the Wilmer Hutchins (1-3, 1-0) defense made a pivotal goal-line stand to put an end to Pinkston's late rally and complete the 20-14 upset at Kincaide Stadium Thursday night.

Wilmer Hutchins's defense forced six turnovers in the game, including a 30-yard scoop and score to go up 20-7 in the first quarter.

Shortly after a brief dustup, which resulted in several ejections, Pinkston (4-1, 0-1) found new life in the 4th quarter — scoring a quick touchdown and then recovering an improbable onside kick to give themselves one last chance. With under a minute to go, Pinkston drove down to the five yard line, but penalties and the stout Wilmer Hutchins defense came up with another stop to hold off Pinkston.

Wilmer Hutchins quarterback TJ McMillon led his team with 117 yards passing and a score while Pinkston quarterback Camyri Childress finished the contest with 83 yards of total offense.
