FORT WORTH – Jameer Muhammad and Jayden Thomas each rushed for over 100 yards as Carter-Riverside celebrated homecoming with a 24-21 non-district victory over Dallas Adamson Friday night at Scarbrough-Handley Field.

Muhammed carried 18 times for 140 and scored on runs of 74 and one yards. Thomas rushed for 111 yards on 18 carried and added a 66-yard touchdown run. Carter-Riverside (3-0) had a big night running ball as they finished with 326 yards on 47 carries.

Adamson (0-2) made a goal stand with 2:05 to play and had a chance to win or tie but couldn’t move the ball and turned it over on downs. Carter-Riverside downed the ball on three straight plays to secure the win.

Adamson opened the game with a bang as Kabram Washington returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown. Washington came up big in the second half. The senior scored on an 11-yard run with 8:03 to play in the third quarter to cut the lead to 24-14. Then with 9:23 to play in the game, Washington found Gary Flowers for a 31-yard touchdown pass that got Adamson within 24-21 with 9:23 left in the game. Washington finished the game with 115 yards passing.

Down 7-0 in the first half, Carter-Riverside scored 24 unanswered points to head into halftime leading 24-7.

Muhammad scored on a 74-yard run to tie the game at 7-7. Then he found the end zone from a yard out to give Carter-Riverside a 14-7 lead it wouldn’t relinquish. Carter-Riverside went up 21-7 with 2:58 to play in the first half on a 66-yard run by Thomas.

On the final play of the first half, Oscar Andrade booted a 34-yard field goal.
