Final softball rankings (4/24): Denton Guyer, Forney end regular season at No. 1

The UIL softball playoffs begin this weekend where the Dallas area will seek to claim its first state title since 2018.

The UIL softball playoffs begin this weekend, and the Dallas area’s top teams will seek to end the area’s title drought, which dates back to 2018.

Forney, which claimed the Dallas area’s last softball state title, has arguably the best chance to bring home its next as the only area team to also be ranked No. 1 in the state in its classification.

Five different Dallas-area teams are state-ranked in 5A, three are in 4A and four are in 6A.

As teams soared to their respective district championships over the last week, the rankings held for the most part. Plano West, however, ended the regular season outside of the 6A top 10 after dropping its final four games of the season despite being ranked as high as No. 2 earlier this year.
