National signing day is only a few weeks away, which means many Texas high school volleyball players are thinking about which college team they will head to in 2025.
Some players, however, already know where they will take their talents next, and many of them are having standout seasons. Here are 10 players already committed to play in college that have stood out this Texas high school volleyball season.
Macaria Spears
School: Prestonwood
Position: Outside Hitter
Class: Senior
The daughter of former Cowboys and LSU defensive end Marcus Spears is committed to Texas and has played like one of the top recruits in the state this season. The three-year varsity starter for the Lions leads all private school players with 530 kills and averages 6.16 kills per set. Prestonwood is ranked first in its classification by The Dallas Morning News and fourth in the country by MaxPreps.
Taylor Cook
School: Prestonwood
Position: Setter
Class: Senior
Cook is the player who has been setting up Spears all season, racking up an eye-popping, private schools-leading 879 assists so far this season. She is a Kansas commit and has directed Prestonwood to its fourth consecutive season with 30 or more wins.
Suliane Davis
School: Colleyville Heritage
Position: Outside Hitter
Class: Senior
Davis has been a standout volleyball player for Colleyville Heritage since her sophomore season, when she helped the Panthers win their first 5A state title in program history. She’s also a girl’s basketball player who averaged over 10 rebounds per game last season. Davis is committed to BYU for volleyball and has 607 kills this year.
Ava Steffe
School: Frisco Memorial
Position: Outside Hitter
Class: Senior
Steffe is a four-year varsity player and Tulsa pledge who is third in 5A in kills with 438. Memorial is in third place in district 11-5AII and is looking to advance past the bi-district round in the state playoffs this year, after losing to Lone Star in 2023.
Alex Richter
School: Highland Park
Position: Outside Hitter
Class: Senior
Richter is having an outstanding senior season, leading 5A in kills with 514. The Georgia commit has helped lead Highland Park to an 11-1 record in district 12-5AII, and it has been the only team to beat top-ranked Byron Nelson so far this year.
Hannah Beauford
School: Prosper
Position: Setter
Class: Senior
Beauford has been the best player for the Eagles this season, leading her team in both kills with 230 and assists with 478. The Cal pledge has been a varsity player since her sophomore season and helped Prosper reach the 6A state semifinals in 2023.
Danielle Whitmire
School: Prosper Walnut Grove
Position: Setter
Class: Junior
Whitmire is having a breakout junior season and ranks eighth in 5A in assists with 538. She is committed to Penn State and has helped lead Prosper Walnut Grove to the verge of its first playoff appearance in school history after opening in 2022.
Madi Victoriano
School: Frisco Centennial
Position: Setter
Class: Junior
Victoriano has been a varsity contributor since her freshman season and is having her best year as a junior. She leads 5A with 967 assists and has one of the best serves in the area with 69 aces. The Vanderbilt commit has guided Centennial to a second consecutive season with 30 or more wins.
Hannah Lee
School: Frisco Wakeland
Position: Middle Blocker
Class: Junior
The LSU pledge is having a solid season for the Wolverines, ranking sixth in 5A in kills with 376 and adding 38 blocks. Wakeland is ranked sixth in The News’ most recent poll and is in second place in District 12-5AII behind Highland Park.
Layla Austin
School: Southlake Carroll
Position: Outside Hitter
Class: Junior
Austin is a San Diego State pledge who leads Southlake Carroll in kills with 357. She has been a force for the Dragons since her freshman season and helped them reach the 6A regional semifinals last year.
