At Dallas rally, Nancy Pelosi has strong words for sanctuary cities law
Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday blasted Texas' new sanctuary cities law, calling it "an act of cowardice." The law was passed earlier this year by the Republican-controlled Legislature and signed by Gov. Greg Abbott.
The law seeks to curb so-called sanctuary cities by, among other things, allowing law enforcement officers to check to immigration status of residents.
Pelosi criticized Republican leaders in Texas for taking the state in the wrong direction and not embracing its diversity.

The shootings occurred about 7:15 p.m. at the Nissan of Greenville along Interstate 30 near Joe Ramsey Boulevard. Officers responding to calls about the gunshots found the three men dead, city officials said in a written statement.

Abbott signs Dallas Police and Fire Pension bill
Gov. Greg Abbott has signed into law the bill aimed at saving the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System from financial insolvency.
Abbott's signature was a foregone conclusion after both the House and Senate passed the bill unanimously. Without the bill's passage, the pension could have gone broke within the next decade.
