The race to replace term-limited Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings is crowded with nine candidates.
The filing period for the May 2019 election ended Feb. 15.
If nobody gets to 50 percent in the May 4 election, the top two finishers will advance to a June runoff.
The mayor's race drew heavy political hitters despite the rather limited powers. Unlike in some other major American cities, the mayor of Dallas is not the government's chief executive — that's the city manager.
But the council's only at-large representative can set the council's agenda and has the powers of the bully pulpit.
