Wife of man fatally shot in Garland says her husband threw a bottle at truck that cut him off

Video from a nearby business appears to show a man throwing an object out an open window.

Nearly two weeks after a driver fatally shot another man in Garland, police on Wednesday released new details and video of the road-rage incident.

Francisco Javier Pasillas, 33, was shot Aug. 22 after his wife said he threw a glass bottle at a pickup because he was mad when the truck cut him off, according to police.

The driver of the truck, who has not been identified or charged with a crime, told detectives he noticed a Cadillac Escalade driving erratically and following his truck closely, police said.

Both he and his passenger said they thought they were being shot at after they heard a loud pop and learned the rear window had shattered as the Escalade pulled up alongside them, police said.

The truck driver, who indicated he feared for his life, shot at the Escalade, striking Pasillas, according to police. He then drove to the police station to report the incident.

Officers responded about 12:30 p.m. to the 1300 block of Northwest Highway, near West Centerville Road, and found Pasillas with a gunshot wound in the Escalade. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police said they have been in contact with Pasillas' family almost daily and that the other driver has been cooperating with the investigation.
