6-year-old dies after being shot by his brother in Arlington

The boy had been shot in the head Sunday by one of his siblings and had been hospitalized in grave condition in Fort Worth.

A 6-year-old boy who was rushed to the hospital Sunday after he was shot by his brother died Thursday morning.

The boy, Zain Alabiden Fadhil, died about 9:15 a.m. at Cook Children's Medical Center, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office. He had been shot at his home in the 1400 block of Cloyne Drive, near Mansfield Webb Road.

The boy's cause of death was not yet available, but police said Sunday that Zain had been shot in the head and was in grave condition.

Police said a group of children were playing in the room when the boy's older brother found a rifle, pointed it at Zain and pulled the trigger.

Another sibling was wounded by shrapnel. She was expected to be OK, police said.

An older teen in the home told police he had purchased the rifle. Zain's parents told police they did not know there was a firearm in the home.

Several other children were shot Sunday in Tarrant County, including a 4-year-old who died after being shot by his sibling in Fort Worth and an 8-year-old girl who was wounded in Arlington.
