A maintenance worker in west Oak Cliff shot a man outside a grocery store Monday night, leaving him in serious condition, officials said.
The shooting took place about 11:30 p.m. outside the El Rio Grande Latin Market located in the 2500 block of West Jefferson Boulevard. Initial reports that the shooter was a store employee were incorrect. Store officials said the man was a contracted maintenance person.
The shooter told police that multiple men entered the store and an altercation took place. One of the men was armed. The maintenance worker fired a gun, which struck one of the men.
The wounded suspect later arrived at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in serious condition. Dallas police are investigating the incident.
