Grand Prairie is focused on driving down water consumption, and it’s competing in an annual nationwide water conservation competition to prove the point.
The Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation pits cities against one another in a friendly competition to see “who can be the most water-wise,” according to the organization.
“The City of Grand Prairie’s water efficiency efforts starts by educating our residents and children to reduce unnecessary water usage,” Mayor Ron Jensen said in a written statement. “Water is an extremely vital part of everyday life and by participating in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation, we help spread awareness to ensure an adequate water supply for future generations.”
Interested parties can take an online pledge to reduce their water consumption and qualify for daily giveaways; cities with the highest percentage of participating residents will win.
An added incentive? A grand prize for the winning community will be a 2020 Toyota Highlander hybrid vehicle.
