Dallas County offering up to $15,000 to food pantries serving residents during the pandemic

Funded by the CARES Act, these grants will support organizations feeding residents amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Dallas County began accepting applications for its Food Pantry Assistance Program this week, seeking to provide financial assistance to organizations that provide food to county residents outside the city of Dallas.

This aid aims to reimburse funds to community organizations that existed before the pandemic and that have received an increase in applicants for their services during the COVID-19 crisis, according to information provided by Dallas County.

Organizations that request aid must:

  • Have operated from or before March 1, 2019
  • Currently pay local taxes
  • Be located in Dallas County, but not in the City of Dallas.
  • Demonstrate the increased distribution of services or food since March 1, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic

The financial aid will be a maximum of $15,000 to organizations that have spent the most on food sistribution. This program is funded by the CARES Act and the Dallas County CARES Initiative.
