Plano offering free showers at city rec centers for residents without water

Burst pipes have cut off the water supply for many residents.

Plano residents without water can now take free showers at three city recreation centers.

The announcement comes after thousands of residents in the city lost power during the recent winter storms and frigid temperatures and many residents now have no water due to burst pipes.

Residents can use showers at the Carpenter Park and Tom Muehlenbeck recreation centers, and the Plano Aquatic Center.

Normally, non-members are charged a daily fee to use all recreation center amenities. But due to widespread power outages and the interruption of water service, any resident who wants to shower can use the centers’ locker rooms and showers free of charge.
