The Richardson Public Library has been recognized as one of the top libraries in the state by its peers.
The library received the 2020 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA).
Of the 568 public libraries in Texas, just 56 received the award for 2020, according to an announcement.
The annual award honors libraries that show excellence in a number of areas, including:
- Services for underserved and special populations
- Innovation in marketing their programs and services
- Promoting cultural, topical and educational programming
- Literacy support
- Summer reading clubs
- Workforce development
- Digital access and inclusion
- Comprehensive staff training
The TMLDA is affiliated with the Texas Municipal League.
