Mesquite has three new places where you can check out library books

The public library system recently expanded its pick up and drop off locations.

Bookworms in Mesquite now have more points around the city to check out or return library books and other materials. As of March 30, library cardholders can pick up books, audiobooks and movies from some parks and recreation facilities.

Elizabeth Harrell, director of the city’s parks and recreation department, said she hopes the initiative will get more residents into the city’s recreation centers.

“This expanded service will provide customers convenient access to an extensive collection of library resources,” she said in a press release. “And, it will expose those who are unfamiliar with our parks and recreation facilities to our vast array of recreation and ‘Adult 50+’ programs.”
