Carroll ISD students, staff can now choose whether to wear masks outdoors

The change was approved Monday by the Carroll ISD school board.

The Carroll ISD school board has voted to allow students and staff the option of wearing a face mask outdoors.

The change to the district’s COVID-19 safety protocols received unanimous approval at Monday night’s meeting, following a report from the board’s COVID-19 Response Team. The district, based in Southlake, has 8,400 students and 1,100 employees, according to its website.

The change to its mask policy is effective immediately. Students and staff must still wear masks indoors.

Officials also gave the green light to Carroll Senior High School seniors to have an in-person graduation and prom. A location for prom has not been determined, but if it is outdoors, masks will not be required, according to the district.
